Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping. The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Updates Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
