The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
