Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose creations have represented all of those elements.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their constant trust and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the nature of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, ambitious approach to the television.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
