Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
