"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often discreetly and without words, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an remarkable change to the lives of others," Her Royal Highness stated in a letter ahead of the concert. A Steady Comeback The princess has been making her own steady comeback to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers". Music and Opportunity Guests arriving at the Abbey will enjoy performances from budding artists backed by the Future Talent organisation, co-founded by the late Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for music lessons. An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who performs on the trumpet and is from southwest Wales, has been assisted by the organisation, with funding assisting with instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "amazing" to be playing at the concert. "Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," Carys said. She is now enrolled at the prestigious music academy, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities. A Family Affair Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will also be at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many notable figures," she said. Within the audience will be representatives of different generations. That will feature Saphia Turner, aged nine, honouree of a young hero award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to raise money for food banks. Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett helping to make them. The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a Cornish sea shanty group, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "a dream come true." The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by television on December 24th.
